In this article we will analyze which are the solar panels with the highest efficiency on the market. In recent years, we have seen a very dynamic development of photovoltaics. Every few months, new records for panel energy and cellular efficiency are set. Another trend is modules with increasing dimensions. It is the result of not only the increasing number of cells in the panel, but also the use of ever larger silicon wafers from which the cells are made.

Solar panels with the highest efficiency on the market

While modules of similar size were selected for both large solar parks and small installations only a few years ago , we can expect further diversification in the coming years. The largest modules produced are already approaching 3 square meters and are primarily intended for large solar farms on the ground.

Photovoltaic panels with smaller dimensions are most often chosen for roof installations due to the ease of installation on a sloping roof. On the other hand, large terrestrial farms tend to install larger and larger panels. This means fewer panels with the same agricultural power and also fewer cables and connections, that is, possible points of failure. Fewer panels also means fewer man hours.

As the power of photovoltaic panels increases, more and more manufacturers will integrate optimizers or microwaves with them, which will reduce wiring costs. Safety is also improved, since in the event of a fire during the day, the DC cables in the microwave-free installation will be constantly active. Future expansion of the facility will not require inverter replacement, as is the case with string inverters.

Below is a list of 53 manufacturers and their most efficient photovoltaic panels that are available in the market. The most efficient modules are also the most expensive. Almost no one builds an installation on them, but thanks to them we can see advances in the development of photovoltaic technology.

The data collected was mainly based on the catalog cards of specific panel manufacturers, as the parameters given by various online stores are sometimes stretched and not true. Only selected parameters are included in the list. If necessary, you can click on the link under the module, from where you can get more data.

The selection criteria is efficiency first and power second. Individual manufacturers may also offer higher wattage panels, but they will have lower efficiency.

The power per square meter has been added to the statement. For example, if the efficiency of the panel is 21.28%, then its power per 1 m2 should be about 212.8 W.

Comparing these values, it can be seen that some manufacturers stretch the efficiency of their panels, but there are also who download it.

TC Pmax is the temperature coefficient, which shows how much the panel power will drop with increasing temperature. The lower the value of this coefficient, the higher the performance of the panel, for example, in summer.
